Even though I consider myself a Grand Rapids wedding DJ and that most of my weddings are in the West Michigan area, there are a few times a year I get the privilege to travel. I’ve DJed in Northern Michigan, Detriot area, Ohio, Indiana and a few times in Chicago.
Dave and Ellie invited me to DJ their wedding in Chicago at a beautiful golf course called Makray Memorial Golf Club. Besides just DJing I ran the sound for the ceremony too. I do this quite a few weddings and it’s really nice for couples to have the consistency between the ceremony and reception.
The ceremony was right outside the reception hall overlooking the greens. I mic’ed up the officiant for the ceremony who was good friend of the couple.
After the ceremony we moved things inside and really got the party started. To introduce the couple they created a photo slide show video to help the families get to know them more. At the culmination of the song I introduced the bride and groom to a huge applause.
I was able to work with a great photographer this evening. Liz Schrenk at Something Blue Photography + Design was such a pleasure to work with! She worked with the couple and wedding party so well and the photos she took throughout the day look so nice. She was also willing to share a few of them here, so thank you!
Make sure you go check out Liz at her website and click around to look at some of her work. Great Stuff!
Dave and Ellie’s guests really enjoyed dancing throughout the night. They helped select some great music that had us going from decade to decade. We played Bob Seger, Chicago (of course!), Journey and Bruno Mars, Flo-Rida, and this summer’s big song Walk the Moon’s “Shut Up and Dance”
Every wedding I DJ has certain memories that jump back out to me as I look back. This night’s favorite memory has to be when all the groomsmen taught everyone how to dance to Sugarhill Gang’s “Apache (Jump on it)”
These guys were so into it and probably could have had me play the song again and would have loved it just as much.
Thanks Dave and Ellie for having me DJ your wedding! Thanks again to Liz at Something Blue Photography + Design for the pictures!
